Eduardo Ermita

Eduardo Ermita Ramos ( born July 13, 1935 in Balayan, Batangas Province, Philippines ) is a Filipino former general and politician.

Biography

After his school education at Immaculate Conception College, which he finished in 1952, he entered the service of the Armed Forces ( Armed Forces of the Philippines, AFP ), and was there in 1957 Ansolvent the Military Academy ( Philippine Military Academy ), where he a Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc. ) acquired. During his military career, he was a graduate of several military training programs in Fort Bonifacio, at the U.S. Army Infantry Center at Fort Benning, Georgia, at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey (California ) and Fort Bragg ( North Carolina). Between 1961 and 1962 he was himself an instructor at the Philippine Military Academy.

From 1976 to 1985 he was Executive Assistant at the Under Secretary for National Defence Office. Subsequently, he was Commanding General of the civil units of the AFP, and then from 1986 to 1988 Deputy Chief of Staff of the AFP. During this time he was also president of the Alumni Association of the Military Academy ( Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association).

After his retirement from active military service, he was from 1988 to 1992 even Undersecretary of Defense ( Department of National Defense).

In 1992 he finally began his political career with election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines. In this he represented as a member of Lakas CMD ( Lakas - Kabalikat ng Pilipino - Christian Muslim Mala Yang Democrats ) to 2001, the constituency I ( 1st District), the province of Batangas. Successor as MP in this constituency in 2001 his daughter Elenita Ermita - Buhain, who held the seat until 2007.

At times he was chairman of the Lakas - National Union of Christian Democrats ( Lakas - NUCD ) in the province of Batangas as well as in the region IV ( CALABARZON ).

In 2003 he was as Minister of National Defense of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in her cabinet. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was appointed on 18 August 2004 as a successor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Alberto Romulo appointed to the office of the influential Executive Secretary ( Executive Secretary ), which is the highest -ranking member of the government head of the Cabinet.

Eduardo Ermita is also also president of the Philippine Association of Golf Sport ( National Golf Association of the Philippines ).
