Edward Joseph Hanna

Edward Joseph Hanna ( born July 21, 1860 in Rochester, New York, USA, † July 10, 1944 ) was Archbishop of San Francisco.

Life

Edward Joseph Hanna received on May 30, 1885 Sacrament of Holy Orders.

On October 22, 1912, Pope Pius X appointed titular bishop of Titiopolis and appointed him auxiliary bishop in San Francisco. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Giovanni Vincenzo Bonzano, donated on 4 December of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Chicago, James Edward Quigley, and the Bishop of Richmond, Denis Joseph O'Connell.

On June 1, 1915 Pope Benedict XV appointed him. Archbishop of San Francisco. Edward Joseph Hanna resigned on March 2, 1935 back as Archbishop of San Francisco and was appointed Titular Archbishop of Gortyna.
