Toteisloch with quaking bog; Nature reserve

The Egelsee and the adjacent Egelsee Moor are a mere, with raised bog in the municipality of Unterach in Upper Austria. They are located in the Attersee - Lake Mondsee Mountains on the western foothills of the Hochplett top, on the left shore of Lake Attersee.

The Egelsee is located about 150 m above the water level of Lake Attersee to 624 m above sea level. A. and has an underground stream to Urfangbach that flow to the sea in Stockwinkel. It is a Toteisloch that remained after the last great ice age as fen. The shore is a silted Direction quaking rest, several nature reserve plants ( including the sundew ) grow here.

The lake is a nature reserve since 1965 ( Egelsee Nature Reserve in Unterach, N019 ), since May 31, 1995 and the surrounding moorland is reported (NSG Egelsee Moor, N070 ). The lake is about 0.8 hectares, the reserve about 4 hectares around the lake.
