Eggiwil ( [ ˌ ɛkiʋi ː l] ) is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Geography
Eggiwil is in the upper Emmental. Neighboring municipalities are Signau, Langnau, Röthenbach, Schangnau, Marbach, Trub and Trubschachen. Due to the community through the Emme flows. The highest point is 1414 m above sea Wachthubel. Level, the lowest point lies in the Aeschau to 690 m above sea level. M.
History
After the construction of the Church ( 1631) Eggiwil 1648 became an independent municipality. For construction of the church, especially the Anabaptists had contributed.

Special
Eggiwil is a typical example of a scattered settlement in pre-Alpine hills. The hills and " dale " divide the municipality into different hamlets. In order for the routes to school are not infinitely long, there are seven school houses for the nearly 2500 inhabitants. Five of them are comprehensive schools.
