Egmond (municipality)

Egmond is a small coastal town in the Netherlands. It consists of the three districts of Egmond- internal, Egmond aan den Hoef and finally Egmond aan Zee, the largest district. Egmond is located in the province of North Holland. It is around 35 kilometers from Amsterdam and 10 km from Alkmaar. Together with the villages of Schoorl and Bergen they form the municipality of Bergen.

Egmond aan Zee

Egmond aan Zee is the local part of Egmond, which overlooks the sea and is preferred by tourists. Therefore, the place Egmond is erroneously often referred to only as Egmond aan Zee. The old village of Egmond aan Zee, with its small, typically Dutch built houses is of the lighthouse JCJ van Speijk from 1834 dominates.
