Eixen

Eixen is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. The municipality is located southeast of Ribnitz Damgarten. Since 13 February 2004, the community is part of the Office Recknitz - Trebeltal with headquarters in the city Tribsees.

Geography and transport

Eixen is located about ten kilometers northwest of the town of Bad brawn and about 18 kilometers north of Tribsees. The Federal Highway 20 can be reached via the connections Tribsees (approx. 15 km) and Bad aspic (approx. 14 km). In the south the Recknitz borders the municipality. Here you will find the nature reserve Lower Recknitztal. The only significant lake in the municipality is the Eixener lake.

History

The districts Eixen and Bisdorf were first mentioned in 1248, when Prince of Rügen Jaromar II gave the area the Bishop of Schwerin. The district " Eixen " was named after the founder of " Knight Henricus de ECSE ". He came from the village Eichsen which is Eichsen mills today. In 1322 Kavelsdorf was mentioned as " Kaboldesdorf ". Forkenbeck was the knight Arnoldus de Vorkenbeke established (from the Westphalian village Forkenbeck ) in the 13th century. The first mention was already 1226.

After a brief membership with the Principality of Rügen Eixen fell in 1326 to the Duchy of Pomerania.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The community was until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Rostock.

The community Eixen in its current size from the 13th June 1999. Kavelsdorf The districts and rave Horst were incorporated. Since 15 February 2004, the community is part of the Office Recknitz - Trebeltal, the community previously belonged to the Official Bad aspic.

Policy

Reigning until then without party since 2009, mayor of the municipality, André Bonitz, occurred in early May 2012, the Pirate Party at. This Eixen is Germany's first municipality in which the Pirate Party is a mayor.
