Ekaterina Iourieva
Ekaterina Valerevna Jurjewa (Russian Екатерина Валерьевна Юрьева; born June 11, 1983 in Tchaikovsky, Perm region, former Soviet Union) is a former Russian biathlete.
In the season 2004/2005 Ekaterina Jurjewa debuted in the Biathlon World Cup, where they participated in five races and a best finish achieved 18th place in the persecution in Pokljuka. Only two years later, in the 2006/2007 season, it was used again in the World Cup, because the Russian team was decimated due to injuries, doping barriers and pregnancies. They took the chance and could run in the top. Her best result was a victory in the individual in Pokljuka 2007. During the 2007 /2008 season she came in Hochfilzen in the sprint, pursuit and relay ( anchor leg ) to second place. In Pokljuka she won her first World Cup victory on 13 December 2008 at the single with a lead of 55.1 seconds. With the season they also reached there as the anchor leg in second place.
On 29 December 2007 she won with her partner Dmitri Vladimirovich Yaroshenko at the World Team Challenge ( Biathlon auf Schalke ) at the Veltins - Arena. 2008 saw less successful for Jurjewa. In Oberhof she could not start due to illness, and only in the relay in Ruhpolding she was fit again. The third runner they improved their team from seventh to third place, the Russia then occupied at the end. At the 2008 World Championships Jurjewa could after a ninth place in the sprint improve in the pursuit and won seven places behind Andrea Henkel silver. In the mass start, she was behind Magdalena Neuner and Tora Berger third and won the bronze medal. Since the IBU Cup in Martell in the season 2010/2011 Jurjewa ran again actively involved in international biathlon events. In her comeback she finished sixth in the 15 km individual race. At the World Cup opener in Östersund she slipped into the team as a replacement and displaced among other Slepzowa Svetlana and Olga Wiluchina. In the single came fourth with one shooting error.
