El Moudjahid

El Moudjahid (Arabic المجاهد, DMG al - muǧāhid, the fighter ') is a government - Algerian daily newspaper published in French.

It was founded during the Algerian war of independence as an underground newspaper of the FLN. The first issue was published on 1 July 1956 in Morocco, since Algeria's independence in 1962, the newspaper is published in Algiers. Until the 1980s, El Moudjahid served as the central organ of the ruling party FLN, the fate of Algeria drew more than three decades as a single party. El Moudjahid was thus the official voice of the government and is still one of the most important newspapers in Algeria.
