Eleanor of England, Countess of Bar

Eleanor of England (* June 18, 1269; † August 29, 1298 ) was the eldest daughter of Edward I and his wife Eleanor of Castile.

She was a long time with Alfonso III. betrothed of Aragon, but the marriage could not be closed due to his death in 1291. Eleanor then married in 1293 to the French nobleman Henry of Bar, especially around bar and England to unite against the enemy France. Eleanor and Henry had three children who survived to adulthood:

  • Edward (* 1294, † 1336 ), Count of Bar
  • Eleanor (* 1285), Llewelyn ap Owain married to
  • Jeanne (* 1295, † 1361 ), married to John of Warenne. The marriage was annulled in 1315 and Jeanne from 1354 Alleinregentin of Bar

Eleanor died before her husband, and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
