Eleanor of Provence

Eleanor of Provence (French Éléonore de Provence) (* around 1223 in Aix -en- Provence, . † 24-25 June 1291 in Amesbury ) married in 1236 the English king Henry III. She is the mother of the future King Edward I.

Her parents are Ramon Berenguer V of Provence (1198-1245) and Beatrice of Savoy ( 1206-1266 ). Her sister Margaret of Provence, married the French king Louis IX. , Another sister, Sancha of Provence, Richard of Cornwall, brother of Henry III. of England. Their third and youngest sister, Beatrice of Provence, eventually inherited the Provence and married Charles of Anjou, King of Sicily, and brother of the French king Louis IX.
