Ellina Zvereva

Elina Swerawa (White Russian Эліна Зьверава, English transcription Elina Zverava, Russian Эллина Александровна Зверева, Ellina Zvereva Aleksandrovna / Ellina Zvereva, . Born November 16, 1960 in Dolgoprudny ) is a Belarusian discus thrower.

Swerawa contests since 1979 discus competitions. At the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul in 1988 they finished 5th. For the Games in 1992 it was closed due to steroid doping, then won but after their return in 1993 at the World Championships in 1995. At the games in Atlanta in 1996 was followed by the bronze medal. The following year, Swerawa reached number 2 in the World Championships in 1997. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 brought them the gold medal in their discipline. It was at this time at age 39 the oldest track and field gold medalist in history.

After this triumph, the following year she won again in second place at the World Championships in 2001, but was declared four years later to the world champion, as the previously run on the first place Natalja Sadowa in the competition had high caffeine levels.
