Elvir Bolić
Elvir Bolić ( born October 10, 1971 in Zenica ) is a former Yugoslav and Bosnian - Herzegovinian footballer and current coach. In addition to the Bosnian nationality Bolić also has Turkish nationality.
Playing career
Association
His professional career began in the striker in his hometown at NK Čelik Zenica in July 1988. In July 1991 he moved to FK Red Star Belgrade. He stayed there for one season before moving in July 1992 to Turkey for Galatasaray. At Galatasaray he remained until the end of 1992. In January 1993, he joined Gaziantepspor where he played until 1995. In the 1995/1996 season, he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul. From there we went in 2000 for 3 years to Spain to Rayo Vallecano. In 2003 he returned to Turkey and signed a contract with İstanbulspor. However, when club he played only one year. He switched to Gençlerbirliği Ankara, remained there, however, as in 1992 at Galatasaray only 5 months until the end of the year, but played two games in the UEFA Cup 2004/05. National
Bolić played a total of 52 games for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. Overall, he scored 22 goals for the Bosnia-Herzegovina selection team. He was top scorer for Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Edin Džeko replaced him in 2012. His first international game he played on 1 September 1996 against Greece.
Coaching career
From 5 January 2008 to May 17, 2008 Bolić was co- coach of the senior national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the then- head coach Meho Kodro was released, also Bolić was not busy.
Trivia
- With his goal in a 1-0 away win his team Fenerbahce against the reigning English champions Manchester United in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, he finished the 40-year -long invincibility of the Red Devils at their European home games.
