Gaziantepspor

Gaziantepspor ( officially: Gaziantepspor Kulübü ) is a football club in the largest city in the Southeastern Anatolia, Gaziantep region, which is also the sixth largest city of Turkey. From the fans, the club also " Antep ", " Antepspor " is called " Şahinler " or " Gazikent ". The Kamil Ocak Stadium, is the home of Gaziantepspor and can accommodate 17,000 spectators.

History

The club was founded on February 7, 1969 under the leadership of Beşir Bayram. The club's colors, red and black, point to the defense of the city in the Turkish War of Liberation (1919-1922), with black mourning and red symbolizes the blood shed. In the 1970/71 season the team played in the Turkish league third their first game. The climb to the second division succeeded in the following season. After seven years in the second division Gaziantepspor rose to the first division. Great success but could not be recorded, and thus the team was relegated from the 1982/83 season. In the Turkish Süper Lig one is for the 1989/90 season and has won from the time when more and more in reputation and strength, not least because of the wise economic policies of long-time president of the association, Celal Doğan, who the club between 1994 and 2004 has passed. The team has been able to celebrate any significant success, but is still valid as the nemesis of Istanbul's major clubs. In addition promotes Gaziantepspor young players who earn their money in Istanbul United clubs such as Gökhan Gülec, Ibrahim Toraman, Ayhan Akman, İsmail Köybaşı and Ibrahim Üzülmez. Gaziantepspor maintains a Fanfreundschaft to MKE Ankaragucu and recently also to Bursaspor.

Coat of arms

In the coat of arms, which is the castle of Gaziantep, is a falcon, the symbol of the city, pictured. Among the founding year is to see. The background is a checkerboard pattern in the club colors.

European Competitions

Gaziantepspor took in 1996 the first part of the UI-Cup. In 2000, Gaziantepspor played for the first time in the UEFA Cup and was eliminated by eventual finalists Deportivo Alaves. In the 2003-04 season the club reached the 3rd round in the same competition and was eliminated until there almost against AS Roma.
