Émilie Desjeux

Émilie Desjeux ( born October 9, 1861 in Joigny, † April 23, 1957 in Bussy -en -Othe ) was a French painter.

Life

In her youth, Émilie Desjeux moved the family who ran a butcher's shop, to Paris, where she began to seriously deal with the painting. In Paris Émilie Desjeux studied at several art schools. At the Académie Julian she became a student of William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905), who emphasized their artistic talent and she called his best student. After the completion of the Académie Julian Desjeux presented their works at the Society of French Artists (French Société des Artistes Français).

In 1900 she took part in the Paris World's Fair, where she was awarded with a medal. At the turn of the 19th to 20th century Émilie Desjeux participated in the founding of the Society of Women Artists and opened in Paris in her art school for girls in the Rue du Bac, and later in the Rue Visconti. 1906 Émilie Desjeux was entrusted with the execution of a large painting by the City Council of Auxerre. Émilie Desjeux remained her home her entire lifetime. She died in 1957 at the age of 95 years in Bussy -en -Othe, where it rests on the city cemetery with her parents and her brother.
