Engstligen falls

The Engstligen ( Bern German Entschligäfäll ) south of Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland are among the highest waterfalls in Switzerland and are in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance recorded.

The numerous mountain streams Engstligenalp collect at the northern exit and fall in two stages by a total of 370 meters above the valley slopes to Engstligental, where they form the Engstlige. The Engstligen are among the most water waterfalls of the Alps, with an annual rate of 250,000 visits to the - after the Rhine Falls - the most visited waterfalls in Switzerland.

The upper case can be partly seen from the cable car and completely from the mule track that leads through the rock wall. The lower case is accessible from the lower cable car station on a comfortable mountain path.

In early summer place on the mule track a particularly spectacular procession up the place with more than 400 cows and cattle.

Since 2008, on the west side of the lower Engstligenfalls a via ferrata. In winter, the waterfall is a destination for ice climbers.
