Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum )

The Fireweed (Epilobium ) are one in the temperate zones, especially North America and Eurasia ( Holarctic ) growing genre of evening primrose family ( Onagraceae ).

Description

There are one to perennial herbaceous plants. They have reddish, pink or whitish -colored, small flowers. The leaves are often arranged opposite or alternate rarely whorled.

Many species have a long corolla tube. The flowers can be radially symmetrical or zygomorphic. The species with zygomorphic flowers are often placed in a separate genus: Chamerion Raf. ex Holub. Within the genus Epilobium they are otherwise in a separate section: Sect. Chamaenerion exchange.

It is formed a narrow linealische capsule fruit that springs open with four tabs, from which emerge the seeds. The seeds often have hairy appendages for wind dispersal ( Anemochorie ).

Species

There are nearly 190 species worldwide. Many species tend to hybridism (hybrids).

  • Mierenblättriges fireweed (Epilobium alsinifolium Vill. )
  • Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium L., Syn: Chamerion angustifolium (L.) Holub J. )
  • Epilobium atlanticum Litard. & Maire, comes in the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain before and in North Africa.
  • Himalayan fireweed (Epilobium ciliatum Rafin, Syn. Epilobium Adenocaulon Hausskn. )
  • Hill fireweed (Epilobium collinum CC Gmelin )
  • Epilobium davuricum fish. ex Hornem. , occurs in Scandinavia and Russia.
  • Alpine Willowherb (Epilobium dodonaei Vill, Syn. Chamerion dodonaei ( Vill. ) J. Holub )
  • Epilobium duriaei Gay ex Gren. & Godr. , Occurs in the mountains of western Europe.
  • Fleischer fireweed (Epilobium fleischeri Hochst; Syn. Chamerion fleischeri ( Hochst. ) J. Holub )
  • Epilobium gemmascens C. A. Mey., Occurs on the Balkan Peninsula.
  • Epilobium glandulosum clay, home. North America, naturalized in northern Europe in places.
  • Great Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum L.)
  • Epilobium hornemannii Rchb. , Is found in the Arctic.
  • Hartheu Willow herb (Epilobium hypericifolium exchange), is also provided as a synonym of E. montanum L..
  • Epilobium lactiflorum Hausskn. , Is found in the Arctic.
  • Epilobium latifolium L., occurs in North Asia, North America, Russia and Iceland.
  • Grey-green Fireweed (Epilobium lamyi FW Schultz ), is also a subspecies subsp. lamyi (FW Schultz ) Nyman asked to E. L. tetragonum.
