Episcopal Diocese of Springfield

The Episcopal Diocese of Springfield is a diocese of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America. It is located in the U.S. state of Illinois and includes the area east of the Illinois River and south of the county of Woodford, Livingston, Ford and Iroquois one. The foundation of the diocese was induced when the former Episcopal Diocese of Illinois was divided into three different dioceses ( Springfield, Quincy and Chicago) in 1877. The bishop until 2010, the Right Reverend Peter Hess Beckwith, was consecrated on 29 February 1992, and serves as vice president of the American Anglican Council. The future bishop, Daniel Hayden Martins, is consecrated on March 19, 2011.
