Geography

The County is located in northeastern Illinois at the border of Indiana and is geographically the third largest in Illinois. It has an area of ​​2896 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface.

History

In 1830, founded by a total of 12 families, two different, mutually independent settlements.

The County was formed on February 26, 1833 from parts of Vermilion County and named for the Indian tribe of the Iroquois or the Iroquois River. Accurate about today can no longer be determined.
