Bond County, Illinois

The Bond County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 17,768 inhabitants and a population density of 18 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Greenville.

History

In 1807 the first settlers from the south came to this area and built for protection against the natives the Fort Hill and Fort Jones. The colonization progressed slowly and in 1816 there were just 25 cabins. At the site of the later Greenville the first log cabins were built in 1815.
