Ergün Penbe

Ergün Penbe ( born May 17, 1972 in Zonguldak ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Playing career

Association

Ergün Penbe began his professional career in the season 1990/91 at Kilimli Belediyespor. After just one season managed Ergün to change to the Süper Lig. From then on he played for Gençlerbirliği Ankara. In the first two years, he came only to three inserts, only in the third year Penbe established in the core team. At the end of the 1993/94 season he left Ankara and signed with Galatasaray.

In the jersey of Galatasaray midfielder played in 13 years 304 league matches and scored ten goals. The Red - Yellow he was six Turkish soccer champions and four Turkish Cup winners. He also belonged to the squad of the UEFA Cup and later won the UEFA Super Cup in the 1999/2000 season.

His career ended Ergün Penbe after the 2007/ 08 season at Gaziantepspor.

National

Ergün Penbe played on 20 April 1994 against Russia for the first time for Turkey. He took with the national team at the Euro 2000, World Cup 2002 and the Confederations Cup 2003 in part.

His 49th and final international game made Penbe on 6 September 2006 in the European Championship qualifier against Malta.

Coaching career

In the 2008 /09 season was Penbe assistant coach of Erdoğan Arıca at Hacettepespor. After March 3, 2009 at Arıca was terminated by Hacettepespor, Ergün Penbe took over the team for the remainder of the season. This was followed by short stops at Mersin Idman Yurdu, Kartalspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor.

In November 2011 Penbe took over the third division Giresunspor. With this club Penbe failed the hoped for success. Rather, he played with his team end of the season against relegation and secured only in the last weeks in the league. By season's end he left Giresunspor.
