Erik De Vlaeminck

Eric De Vlaeminck ( born March 23, 1945 in Eeklo ) is a former Belgian professional road bicycle racer, who until now achieved unprecedented international success especially in cross-country racing.

Unlike his younger brother, Roger, who mostly achieved his major international successes on the road, but was also successful on the track and in cross makes it very general, Eric specialized largely based on the cross-country sport. He stepped down from the beginning of his successful career as a professional.

Here, however, he succeeded in one of today's unprecedented winning streak: Between 1966 and 1973 he won at the World Championships seven times, interrupted only in 1967 by the success of none other than Renato Longo ( his hand five times world cross country champion).
