Erik Martin

Erik Martin ( born January 12, 1936 in Neuss ) is a German author, songwriter and publisher.

Life

Erik Martin grew up in Kaldenkirchen as a first-born son of a dentist and Dendrologenehepaars Illa and Ernst J. Martin. The experts and value investigative expert on trees and shrubs Helge Breloer was his sister. He attended the Aloisiuskolleg in Bad Godesberg and made his Abitur at the Gymnasium Thomaeum in Kempen. After studying in Aachen he worked some time in Viersen as German and biology teacher. He put on school gardens and carried out together with the German forest youth conservation projects, such as a bat resettlement program in Kaldenkirchener Grenzwald. For his contributions to conservation and his YA mountain tour, he won the 1997 Klaus- Gundelach Prize of German Forest Protection Association.

From 1969 to 2008 Martin was ( with a twelve -year hiatus ) publisher and editor of the middens, an annual magazine for literature and graphic arts. In this he was, inter alia, already forgotten authors (eg Albert Vigoleis Thelen, Margot Scharpenberg and Fritz Grasshoff ) in-depth special parts and New Reviews. Renowned authors such as Günter Kunert, Siegfried Lenz, Annemarie Schimmel and Ernst Jandl first publications presented at his disposal. Martin worked intensively with the work of the writer Werner Helwig, about whom he wrote important publications.

Martin's songs are sung extensively by groups of the Bund Youth and German Scouting. He wrote, among other things, the songs When the evening is approaching and The Piet on the gallows. Martin himself led a long time under the name Mac drive groups that were part of this movement, was for several years the magazine employee of the icebreaker and is now the German forest near youth, for which he also worked with some publications. The forest youth brought two CDs out with his songs.

Erik Martin is a member of the Association Burg Waldeck. Since 2011 he leads dendrological tours of the Arboretum Sequoia Farm Kaldenkirchen. He is married, has two sons and lives in Viersen - Dülken.
