Erkin Alptekin

Erkin Alptekin ( born July 4, 1939, Xinjiang, China ) is a Uighur exile politician and son of the late 1995 independence activists Isa Yusuf Alptekin.

Erkin Alptekin emigrated in 1949 with the rise of the communists in Xinjiang with his parents in Indian Kashmir.

Alptekin 1971 began to work for the acting in Munich Radio Liberty, left this post, however, when the station decided to move to Prague. For a time he was head of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples, founded in 1991 Organization ( UNPO ), whose founders he belongs. In 1992 he founded in Kazakhstan, where a large part of the Uighur diaspora (about 300,000 people ) lives, the " Movement for the Liberation Uiguristans ". After his expulsion from Kazakhstan Alptekin founded in 1994 in Munich, the " East Turkestan Union in Europe". In the years 2004 to 2006 he was the first president of the company founded in Munich World Uyghur Congress. He was replaced by Rebiya Kadeer.

Erkin Alptekin is married and has two children. He lives in Munich.
