Ernesto Basile

Ernesto Basile ( born January 31, 1857 in Palermo, † August 26, 1932 ) was an Italian architect of the Art Nouveau.

Biography

Basile was born as the son of the architect Giovanni Battista Filippo Basile. He studied with his father at the University of Palermo, whose assistant he was after the laurea 1878. From 1881 to 1890 he was assistant to Enrico Guy at the University of Rome, where he obtained in 1883 the libera docenza ( Habilitation ). The Architecture Department of the Father in Palermo, he took over 1890. 1888 commissioned him with the Brazilian government planning in Rio de Janeiro. Basile was Grand'Ufficiale of the Order of the Crown of Italy and commendatore of the Equestrian Order of the Holy. Mauritius and Lazarus. Buildings in Palermo

The most famous buildings include the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Construction was started in 1875 under the direction of the Father and completed after his death in 1897 by Basile.
