Esteban Matías Cambiasso ( born August 18, 1980 in San Fernando, Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine- Italian football player and is since 2004 the Italian Serie A club Inter Milan under contract.

Career

In the club

Esteban Cambiasso started his football career in the youth teams of Argentinos Juniors. As a 16 -year-old midfielder from Real Madrid in 1996 was committed, but it took up to the age of 23, before he could make a name at the Royal. In the UEFA Super Cup in Monaco, he helped the then Champions League winners to a 3-1 win over Feyenoord. Two brilliant individual performances, he prepared two goals and laid the foundation stone for reals first triumph in this competition. Previously, he was loaned out for a few years in his native Argentina, where he scored 14 goals for CA Independiente in 98 games. After a change of club he made in the 2001/ 02 season, a further 12 goals in 37 games at CA River Plate.

Due to the surplus of midfielders at Real Madrid, it was hard to fight for a regular place. Of which remained Cambiasso not spared, the 2003/ 04 free transfer changed after contract expiration to Inter Milan, where he signed a four year contract.

Cambiasso quickly established himself as a regular force and service providers of the Milanese tradition of the club and has been one of the strongest midfielders in Serie A now he has denied for the Nerazzurri over 300 duty matches, and 40 goals (as of 29 October 2011). Particularly important was his goal to make it 2-1 final score against Chelsea in the first knockout round of the Champions League season 2009/10, directed against the top English team meant a good starting point for Inter in the return game and thus the foundation for the Champions League success put the Milan this year.

In March 2009, Cambiasso signed a new five-year contract until 30 June 2014.

In the National Team

His debut in the Argentine national team was Cambiasso on 20 December 2000 against Mexico. Although he was not considered for the squad of the FIFA World Cup 2002, however, Cambiasso could then say with good performances in the Albiceleste and played the Confederations Cup 2005.

As number 5 of the Argentina national team, he participated in Germany at the World Cup 2006. On 30 June 2006, he failed in the quarterfinals of the World Cup against Germany on penalties in the decisive penalty to goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, which Argentina was eliminated.

In the summer of 2007 he once again took part in the Copa América. Cambiasso came as a regular player during the tournament used several times. The tournament victory was denied him, however, as Argentina, as in 2004, lost the final against Brazil. For the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa, he was not nominated, which caused many fans and journalists for amazement. For the Copa America 2011 in Argentina, he was called again, but he could not prevent his team's early exit in the quarterfinals.

Others

Cambiasso is in a relationship and has a son. His family is from the province of Genoa. He has next to the Argentine and the Italian citizenship.
