European Parliament Committee on Transport and Tourism

The Committee on Transport and Tourism ( TRAN ) is one of the twenty standing committees of the European Parliament. Committee Chairman since the 2009 European elections, the Briton Brian Simpson ( PSE).

The Committee is concerned with the policy of the European Union in the fields of rail and road transport, inland waterway, maritime and aviation. This includes in particular the European traffic rules, the development of trans -European transport networks, road safety and the relations with international transport organizations. Furthermore, the Committee is responsible for pan-European arrangements for postal services and for tourism in the EU.

In the European Commission, the competent Member is responsible for this policy area, the Commissioner for Transport; the Council of the European Union, it is the formation of a Council of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy.
