European Vegetarian Union

The European Vegetarian Union (EVU ) is an umbrella organization for vegetarian societies and groups in Europe and works in the areas of vegetarianism, nutrition, health, consumer protection, the fight against world hunger, animal rights, ecology, and general information. The headquarters of the Organization is located in Winterthur, Switzerland.

The main activities of the RUs are:

  • To support member clubs and represented at European level and to offer them a platform for cooperation,
  • To make the vegetarian lifestyle, vegetarian issues and the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle known to the public and to promote,
  • Intercede with governments, European institutions and organizations for greater recognition of vegetarian issues in policy decisions and
  • The successful " V label project " further promote the interests of vegetarian and vegan consumers across Europe. The V- Label is a uniform seal of approval RU identification of vegetarian products and services.

The utility wants to support vegetarian organizations in Europe and bring them closer together, particularly in the countries where the vegetarian philosophy has not yet developed.

The connection between the different member organizations is particularly encouraged by the EVU magazine European Vegetarian. It is published twice a year and reports on events, news, trends, developments, initiatives and activities to vegetarians.

Also important are the opportunities to meet personally vegetarians from Europe and to exchange ideas and experiences, offer each other support and build relationships between the clubs. International meetings and events where the latest developments and research in lectures and workshops can be discussed, are well suited for this purpose.

Through its membership of the International Vegetarian Union (IVU ), the RU is in constant contact with the international vegetarian community.

The RU receives information from key international organizations and the media, creating a good observation of the economic, political and social development is possible.
