Evert Musch

Evert Musch ( born March 16, 1918 in Groningen, † December 5, 2007 in Anloo ) was a Dutch painter.

Life and work

Musch 1936-1940 studied at the Academie Minerva in his native city at Willem Valk, Arnold Cornelis Willem Kort and Pieter de Wit. From 1947 to 1981 Musch was a lecturer at the Academy Minerva, succeeding his teacher de Wit. His students included, among other things, Henk, Wim Crouwel and Martin Tissing.

Musch made ​​paintings and watercolors, are characteristic landscapes and portraits in naturalistic- impressionistic style. He worked among others also as a lithographer and illustrator of books Kinderen en boosheid understood in the Groninger writer Piet Keuning and Harm de boer van ' t Hoogelaand Lucas Jonker.

Musch married in 1943 the painter Joan ( "To" ) Jager, whom he had met at the Academy Minerva. In 1945, both moved from Groningen in the Drenthe. Musch 1941-1942 was a member of the Association of Artists of 1947-1953 and De Jongeren the Drentse Schilders. In 1954 he co-founded the Association of Artists Drents Schildersgenootschap. In 1985 he received the Culture Prize of the province of Drenthe. The Drents Museum in Assen held in 1988 a retrospective of his work.
