Fagiano Okayama FC

Okayama FC (Japaneseファジアーノ 岡山FC, ​​FC Fajiāno Okayama ) is a Japanese football club from Okayama, the capital of Okayama Prefecture and playing in the J. League Division 2 since 2009

The Italian word fagiano in the name means pheasant and alludes to the legendary Peach Momotaro boy, who was accompanied by a stained pheasant. The club mascot is intended to represent those stained pheasant.

History

After the former residents of Kawasaki Steel in 1975 went to Kobe and now plays as Vissel Kobe, the club was founded under the name River Free Kickers. In 2003, the club named in Okayama FC and recorded its first successes in the prefecture - League. The rise in the Chugoku Regional League succeeded in 2005 and tried in July 2007 for membership in the J. League. This was achieved even though the club has not even risen to the unterklassigen Japan Football League. After promotion to the JFL for the 2008 season, the club obtained the qualification ranks for the J. League and promotion to the second class of Japanese professional league.
