Faisal Faisal

Faisal Faisal (Arabic فيصل غازي فيصل, DMG Faysal Faysal Gazi, born October 18, 1980 in Baghdad ) is an Iraqi Skeleton pilot.

Faisal Faisal comes from an athletic family, his uncle Talib Faisal still holds the Iraqi record in the 400 -meter run. From three to seven years, he lived with his mother, who studied architecture in Wales. He operated initially at a higher level football and athletics, was a regional 200-meter record holder. He also dabbled in other sports, such as waterskiing on the Tigris. Since 1998 he undertook experiments in winter sports to represent Iraq at the Winter Olympics. Training trials in the UK, Ireland or Canada failed to a refused visa to study in Australia and only the attempt to train brought a success for Faisal. On the way to Australia, he took part in the opening ceremony of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano as a visitor. In Australia he tried until 2004, first in various types of skiing, snowboarding and speed skating in. Qualifying for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City scheiterta on NOC of Iraq. In 2005 he decided to move to the skeleton and wanted to participate in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. His first race as part of the Skeleton America's Cup he played in January of the year in Lake Placid and took there the places 30 and 32 more races followed in November with results in the low 20s range. Faisal Faisal is the first and only Iraqi who operates Skeleton. He often trained together with the U.S. national team.
