Faith Domergue

Faith Domergue Marie ( born June 16, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana, † April 4, 1999 in Santa Barbara, California ) was an American actress.

Life

Domergue was adopted as an infant and never learned to know their biological parents. At the age of four, she moved with her family to California. During her education she was awarded a movie contract with Warner Bros. and played a small role in the film noir Blues in the Night with Priscilla Lane. In 1942 she graduated from high school and learned at a party Howard Hughes, with whom they go over periods of years wore on a relationship. He bought her from her contract with Warner out, let them develop as an actress and gave her a new movie contract with RKO Pictures. In the resulting 2004 film The Aviator about Howard Hughes, she was portrayed by actress Kelli Garner.

Domergue was at RKO to star in Vendetta, which was produced from 1946. After Max Ophüls and Preston Sturges, the first directors were dismissed, the publication was delayed by several years, a total of five directors were involved. As the final film finally was commercially unsuccessful, Domergue left RKO. In 1946, she was briefly married to bandleader Teddy Stauffer, however, was in favor of a second marriage with director Hugo Fregonese divorce. In the 1950s, she played the female lead roles in several, the genre of the B movie attributable to films such as The Lurker Below and This Island Earth IV is not responding. 1955 her second marriage ended in divorce, after which she moved to England and there turned three feature films. From the late 1950s, she played more in television productions and had guest roles in television series such as Bonanza, Perry Mason, 77 Sunset Strip. In 1966 she married the Italian Paolo Cossa with whom she moved to Italy later. There she played among others in L' amore breve alongside Joan Collins and Mathieu Carrière and Lucio Fulci in nude over corpses.

After the death of her third husband in 1991 she moved back to California, where she died of cancer in 1999. From her second marriage she had a son and a daughter.
