Geographical Location

Falkenfels lies in the Danube- forest about 15 kilometers north of the city of Straubing. The highest point of the village is the castle hill with the castle Falkenfels.

The village Falkenfels consists of three parts, which distinguish themselves through the main streets. The section north of the Bavarian Forest road is also referred to as the " upper village", the south of it part of the "village ". History

Around 1100 AD, the Counts of Bogen built here the Falkenstein rock. Falkenfels later belonged to the Barons of Buchstätt. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark whose seat was Falkenfels.

Traffic

Falkenfels is located on the county road between Asha and Saulburg. The nearest major transport connections is the federal highway 20, which runs through Ascha (4 km).
