Farhad Majidi Ghadikolaei (Persian فرهاد مجیدی; born June 3, 1976 in Tehran ) is an Iranian football player. In 2010 he was nominated for Asian Footballer of the Year award and in the choice of the second place. In a survey conducted by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics Farhad Majidi is emerging as one of the most popular footballer in the world in 2010.

Career

After Majidi played for Esteghlal Tehran several years, he went to Vienna football club SK Rapid Wien. There, however, he only played one season and then moved to Al- Wasl in the Premier Division (United Arab Emirates). Along with his compatriot Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht Majidi reached with the team top of the table, but had also often unlucky with injuries.

One of the highlights in the career of Majidi was his short loan to Al Ain Club. Majidi was the star of the AFC Champions League 2003 semi-final against Dalian Shide. His goal helped Al Ain to reach the final in the AFC Champions League, after the team won for the first time in the history of the AFC Champions League.

In the five years that played for Al Wasl FC Majidi, he scored over 100 goals. He left Al Wasl in 2006, and went to Al -Nasr Sports Club (Dubai ). On February 10, 2007 Majidi got a contract until the end of the season with Al -Ahli ( UAE ). After timeout, Majidi signed a season-long contract with Esteghlal. He extended his contract with Esteghlal for two more years and was used mostly as an attacking midfielder. In addition, he also held the captaincy there. With Esteghlal he won the championship and was in season 2009/10 the best scorer of his team.

From 1996 to 2011 he completed 45 games for the Iranian national football team, where he scored ten goals.

Resignation

The Former captain ( کاپيتان ) and the number seven of the team Esteghlal announced his retirement from football on 28 September 2012 ( the Seventh, seventh day of the Persian calendar ). Farhad Majidi was recorded after 2 months of football break into the first team Esteghlal and won as captain of the IPL 2012/2013.
