Fausto Gresini

Fausto Gresini ( born January 23, 1961 in Imola, Emilia -Romagna, Italy ) is an Italian former motorcycle racer.

He denied 1983-1994 a total of 118 races in the MotoGP World Championship and won the 1985 and 1987 the title in the 125 cc class. Today Gresini has been a successful owner and team principal of MotoGP racing team Gresini Racing.

Career

First race went Fausto Gresini in 1978 at the age of 17 years on a 50 cc Minarelli. In 1983 he was a Garelli in the 125 cc World Championship in 1984 and won the Swedish Anderstorp his first race. Gresini remained of the 125 - cc class faithful throughout his active career and sat there some high marks, such as eleven wins in a row (1986 /87) and ten wins in eleven races in one season (1987). After 1994, Honda only WM- 16th could be, Fausto Gresini decided after 118 Grands Prix, where he scored 47 podium finishes, to resign.

1997 Gresini returned with its own team as team boss back to the racetracks. He sat Alex Barros one on a private Honda in the 500cc class. The ninth World Cup overall in the first year brought a team to the factory bikes of Honda for next season. In the following years, the team continued to work successfully. With Daijiro Katō 2001 world title was won in the 250 cc class. In addition, driver of the Gresini teams finished three times second place in the MotoGP class ( Sete Gibernau 2003 and 2004, as well as Marco Melandri 2005).

Fausto Gresini is married with his wife Nadia and has three children (Luca, Lorenzo and Alice).
