Fausto Zevi

Fausto Zevi ( * 1938 ) is an Italian classical archaeologist.

Fausto Zevi 's academic student of Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli. He was 1977-1982 in succession by Luigi D' Amore superintendent of the Naples region, and thus responsible for the archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Boscoreale and Stabiae. He was succeeded in this position Giuseppina Cerulli Irelli. Previously, he was superintendent of Ostia region, then to Rome. As a professor, he taught at the University of Naples Federico II and most recently he held the chair of Greek and Roman archeology at the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, a regular member of the German Archaeological Institute and honorary member of the British School at Rome. Zevi is an internationally recognized specialist in the field of the topography of ancient Rome, Pompeii and Ostia. In addition, it primarily deals with the Hellenistic influences on Roman culture as well as the archaic Rome. He has published more than 200 publications.
