Fay Lanphier

Fay Lanphier ( born December 12, 1905 Los Angeles County, California, USA, † June 12, 1959 Oakland, California, USA) was the fifth Miss America 1925 and later actress.

Life

Fay Lanphier was the oldest of six siblings and had to help early single mother in the household. Later they moved to Oakland, where Fay attended the Business College. In 1924 she was elected Miss Santa Cruz and was third in the Miss America. In 1925 she was Miss California and launched in Atlantic City as the favorite in the Miss America, which she also won. In the same year she was also Rose Queen.

In 1926 she moved to New York to shoot her first film at Paramount Pictures. 1928 was followed by the second film, but both were a flop. They then participated in a 16-week dance tournament, which she won and received a very high prize money of $ 50,000 for that time. In 1931 she married her childhood sweetheart from college, Winfield Daniels, with whom she had two daughters. Fay Lanphier died in 1959 at the age of 53 years of pneumonia.
