FC Brașov

The FC Braşov is a Romanian football club from Braşov. He plays since 2008 in Liga 1, the first Romanian football league.

History

The club was founded in 1936 as Uzinele de Armament Braşov (UAB) and played for the first time in the season 1937-1938 in the third division. After the Second World War and the takeover by the Communists in 1947, the club changed its name in 1948 in Steagul Rosu Brasov. In 1950 there was a further name change to Metalul Braşov, but which was already reversed in 1954.

In 1956, for the first time reached the summit in Divizia A, the highest Romanian league. But there Metalul came into the season in 1957/58 to under the new name Energia Braşov, but was again changed in 1958 Steagul Rosu Brasov. His greatest successes achieved Steagul under coach Silviu Ploeşteanu with the Romanian runner in the season 1959/60 and winning the Balkans Cup for club teams in 1963. In the Fairs Cup was in the 1965/66 season after a bye in the first round and a win against NK Zagreb in the second round of the knockout stages are reached in which Steagul against Espanyol Barcelona was eliminated in the playoff.

In the 1967/68 season Steagul rose unexpectedly from the Divizia B. After the immediate revival of the club was able to build on his earlier time and place soon in the front half. After a third place in the 1973/74 season is Steagul again qualified for the UEFA Cup and was after a victory against Beşiktaş Istanbul reach the second round. However, it was followed the same year, the descent from the Divizia A.

After renaming in FCM Braşov ( Workers' Club ) in 1979 already succeeded a year later the rise. Except for two interruptions from 1983 to 1984 and from 1997 to 1999 played the club which changed its name in 1990 to the FC Braşov is still valid today, to descend in 2005 continuously in the Divizia A. After a third place in the 2000 season / 01 Braşov was again able to participate in the UEFA Cup, but resigned after recovering from qualifying in the first round. On 27 June 2010, the Italian Giuseppe Materazzi has signed a one year contract as the new head coach. The contract was terminated already on 1 July 2010 due to disagreements with the club's management again. In December 2010 a new coach was brought with the Portuguese Toni. Because Ioan Neculaie, since 1998, a patron of the club, after a disappointing second half of 2010/11 refused to commit some of Toni's desire players, this resigned on 14 July 2011 and was replaced by the former assistant coach Daniel Isaila. On August 9, 2011 were presented with the Spaniard José "Pepe" Murcia, a new head coach, but the 29 August 2011 resigned for family reasons after three game days. Daniel Isaila again took over as coach, he had to retire on November 1, 2011 in order to make the two days earlier dismissed at Astra Ploiesti Marius Şumudică place. After some disappointing results in the second half of the 2011/12 season, the club parted on 16 April 2012 by Şumudică and committed the next day instead Ionut Badea, who resigned at Universitatea Cluj on 13 March 2012. After eight games of the season 2012/13 Badea was released on September 18, 2012, and after the termination of the contract on September 22, 2012, first replaced by Adrian Szabo, the coach of the junior team. Under this, the team remained three games unbeaten until with Sorin Cârţu a new coach was hired on 9 October 2012. After one win and three defeats in the championship and leaving in the Cupa României 2012/13 Cârţu resigned on 12 November 2012 from his office and handed the team again to the former assistant coach Adrian Szabo. With this, the season was completed on the 7th place, but once there was the team after the first five games of the 2013/14 season with only two points in 15th place, Szabo was replaced on August 19, 2013 by Aurel Ţicleanu. Due to disagreements with Ioan Neculaie, the patron of the association, Ţicleanu was released on September 23, 2013 after three games without defeat and replaced by Alexandru Pelici whose contract was terminated before one weeks at second division Metalul Resita. Pelici occurred on November 4, 2013 back to the home defeat against Dinamo Bucharest and was replaced by Ilie Stan.
