FC Sioni Bolnisi

The FC Sioni Bolnisi (Georgian სიონი ბოლნისი ) is a football club based in Bolnisi, Georgia. He plays in Temur Stepania Stadium, which has 3,400 seats. The club name comes from the ancient church Sioni Bolnisi.

History

After the club's regular season 2003/ 04 on points with WIT Georgia Tbilisi could finish first, had to decide a playoff game on the championship. This Sioni Bolnisi lost 0-2 and the championship went to WIT Georgia Tbilisi. The game was also marred by serious riots, among other things, a fan was stabbed with a knife. Then Sioni was not allowed to compete in their own stadium 10 games, also was not allowed to participate in the UEFA Cup the team. In the season 2002/ 03 they were Cup finalists and lost in the final against Dinamo Tbilisi. In the season 2005/ 06 they won the championship with 5 points ahead and achieved the biggest success in club history.
