FC WIT Georgia

FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi (Georgian ვიტ ჯორჯია თბილისი / WIT Dschordschia Tbilisi ) is a football club based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

History

The club was founded in 1968 as Morkinali Tbilisi. 1997 named to the club to enable the animal feed company WIT Georgia Company. The company sponsors the team since then.

After a messy playoff game to the Georgian championship against Sioni Bolnisi, which was overshadowed by fights and took almost three hours, you could win the Georgian Championship title for the first time in the club's history in the 2003/04 season. Home ground is the Armazi own stadium, which is located in Mtskheta 15 km away from Tbilisi.

Due to the Caucasus conflict in the summer of 2008 the club had to deliver in just one game of qualifying for the UEFA Cup against FK Austria Wien (AUT ). The climbers had to be determined in only one game. The game was held in Vienna and ended with a 2-0 for the club from Austria. The FK Austria Wien WIT Georgia Tbilisi has pledged before the game to let half of the revenue from ticket sales to the Georgians to come, as this could deliver a home game.
