Federico Almerares

Federico Almerares (born 2 May 1985 in Mar del Plata, Argentina ) is an Argentine- Italian football player.

The center forward Almerares first played in Quilmes AC. He came in 2003 with 18 years to River Plate, where he was, together with the later goalkeeper Franco Costanzo of FC Basel squad for the first team and was also used occasionally in the Primera División Argentina. A transfer to Basel was possible because Almerares did not want to renew the contract with River Plate after his previous contract in late 2007.

The 23 -year-old Almerares signed on 7 August 2008 at FC Basel a three-year contract valid until June 30, 2011. During the 2008 /09 season, only he had a league game use. In the 2009/2010 season he played 26 times, but he only striker Number Three was behind Alexander Frei and Marco Streller, the club allowed a change.

On 31 January 2011 Almerares moved to Neuchâtel Xamax, where he was dismissed, however, after the second Season 2011/12 due to lack of power. On 29 July 2011 he returned to Argentina for Movers CA Belgrano.
