Ferdinand Alexander Porsche

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, called " Butzi " ( born December 11, 1935 in Stuttgart, † April 5, 2012 in Salzburg ) was a German industrial designer and the founder of Porsche Design GmbH.

He was the eldest son of Ferry Porsche, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche and cousin of Ferdinand Piech, the former CEO and current chairman of Volkswagen AG.

Life

After a year of elementary school in Stuttgart in 1942 the family moved to Zell am See, where Porsche finished the elementary school. 1949 the family moved to Stuttgart, Porsche and attended the Waldorf school. He pursued his education at the Ulm School of Design, which he left after just two semesters. In 1957 he began in body styling studio at Porsche under its director Erwin Komenda. 1962 Porsche design director was at Porsche. His most famous work is the Porsche 911, the 901 was still at the presentation at the IAA 1963. The design of the current Porsche vehicles can still recognize the basic features of the structure of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.

In 1972 he founded after the exclusion of family members from all important positions at Porsche in Stuttgart his own company, the Porsche Design Studio, with which he in 1974 after Zell am See ( Austria ) moved. 1999 awarded him the President of Austria the title of Professor.

1990 Porsche Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing hc F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, belonged to the Supervisory Board FA Porsche until 28 January 2005 when he was appointed Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG. The function was originally introduced for his father Ferry, as this retired from business life. As of 2004, Porsche was also Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Board and founder of the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was the father of three sons, of whom Ferdinand Oliver ( born 1961 ) succeeded his father as Member of the Supervisory Board.

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche died on 5 April 2012 at the age of 76 years in the presence of his family. His grave is located in Zell am See, where his urn is buried in the chapel of the bulk material.
