Fergus Mór

I. Fergus ( Fergus Mor Mac Earca; † 501) was an early king of Dalriada.

He ruled around 500 and is the ancestor of the kings of Scotland. Should be according to the Annals of the Four Masters, he was the son of Muredoch, the grandson of the Irish High King Niall Noigíallach been. Fergus had come from Ireland with a force a relative in the West of Scotland to help, which had been threatened by the Picts. Fergus had been collected in Scotland to the king, but ruled only one year. His successor was, according to tradition, his son Domangart I.
