Feronia (mythology)

Feronia was an old Italian, also worshiped in Rome goddess. She was allegedly Sabine origin, adjoined to Jupiter Anxur or the Apollo Soranus, therefore it is also called Juno Feronia.

As they say the flowers lovers and is compiled with Proserpina, so you have probably seen in her a spring and earth goddess.

On her feast in Trebula Mutuesca in Sabini her flowers and firstfruits were offered; doing a market was held, which was one of the most visited markets in all of Italy.

Another famous shrine of the goddess was Lucus Feroniae in Etruria. Other sanctuaries existed in Amiternum, Tarracina and in the Vestinians, Umbrians and Picenum.

Feronia was also the patron goddess of the freedmen. After praenestinischer Sage she had her son Herilus given three souls, so he had to be killed three times by Evander.
