Ferrieres -les- Scey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ferrieres -les- Scey situated at an altitude of 213 m above sea level, 3 km east-southeast of Scey -sur -Saône -et -Saint -Albin and about 11 km west of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in a depression on the northern edge of the Saônetals.

The area of 6.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the middle Saône Valley. The southern border is always along the Saône, which draws an arc to the south -reaching here. The Alluvialniederung the Saône is on average 207 m and has a width of about two kilometers wide. The river is expanded to the waterway, the loop is cut off at Ferrieres through a side channel with lock. The fertile soils of the valley are mainly used for agricultural purposes.

From the course of the river Saône, the municipality's area extends northward over the flood plain on the adjacent plateau. It is divided by the valley of the Ruisseau de la Fontaine l' Hermite, reaching the Saôneniederung at Ferrieres. The plateau is covered by the extensive grove of Forêt du Chanois. History

Is first mentioned in Ferrieres 1193rd In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Together with the Franche -Comté Ferrieres came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Here ore was mined and smelted early age. Today Ferrieres -les- Scey is a member of the comprehensive 22 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Combes.

Attractions

Among the attractions of the place include the fountain, which was built in 1829 and is flanked on one side by a portico in the neoclassical style, as well as a Calvaire from the 16th century. This castle dates from the 16th century.

Population

With 144 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Ferrieres -les- Scey is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 202 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Ferrieres -les- Scey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some farms of the local small business, especially a business in the construction industry. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community.
