Filet, Switzerland

Filet was until December 31, 2008, a municipality in the district east Raron in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

On 1 January 2009 fillet has merged with the municipality of Morel Morel fillet.

Fusion

On 24 February 2008, the merger of fillet with the area the much smaller neighboring community was decided in a referendum. In filet approval with only 73 percent in favor, with 93 percent in Morel was, however, vote in favor. One reason for the overwhelming support in Morel is that its inhabitants benefit from the merger, as the net debt in Morel is about 10,000 francs per head and practically halved with the merger. For fillet, however, the per capita debt of around CHF 2600 CHF rises to about 5700 in the fusion community.
