Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar

FH Hafnarfjörður ( Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjardar ) is an Icelandic sports club from Hafnarfjörður.

History and Structure

The club was founded on 14 October 1929. In 1935 the club merged with Haukar Hafnarfjörður to IBH Hafnarfjörður. This merger, however, was solved 26 years later and the old name FH accepted. The club colors are black and white. FH Hafnarfjörður has four divisions: football, handball, athletics and fencing. Their home ground is named Kaplakriki and holds about 5,000 spectators. Next door is the handball hall.

Football

Friend was the football section of the club in Germany after she was eliminated in the 2004/05 season against second division Alemannia Aachen in the UEFA Cup. 2006 won FH Hafnarfjörður with 36 of a possible 54 points in the third consecutive year, the Icelandic championship. In the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League 2009/10 the club was eliminated after two losses with 0:4 and 0:2 against the Kazakh champions FK Aktobe.

The following season the club played in the second qualifying round tie against BATE Borisov from Belarus. Against this club, they lost twice ( 1:5 and 0:1). In the 2011/12 season the Icelander played only in qualifying for the Europa League. In the first qualifying round, the team met with the Faroese club ÍF Fuglafjørður against which one prevailed 3-1 and 5-1. In the second qualifying round Hafnafjördur met the Portuguese club Nacional Funchal and dropped out after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and a 1-3 defeat in the return leg from.

The following season the team played in the first qualifying round tie against Liechtenstein Cup Winners USV Eschen -Mauren. After a 2-1 victory in front of their home crowd a 1-0 second-leg victory followed in Liechtenstein ash trees. In the second qualifying round, the team met with AIK Solna, against a 1-1 draw in the first leg was won.

Handball

The handball section won the Icelandic championship more often than any other club. 1992 were the first to be won all three national Wettberwerbe.
