Finlandia Prize

The Finlandia Prize (in Finnish Finlandia palkinto, Swedish Finlandiapriset ) is one of the most prestigious literary awards in Finland.

Selection

The Finlandia Prize was established in 1984 by the Finnish Book Foundation (Finnish Suomen Kirjasäätiö, Swedish Finlands bokstiftelse ) for a work of fiction awarded. Since 1993 he is awarded exclusively for a novel.

The Finlandia Prize is currently 26,000 euros prize (previously 100,000 Finnish marks). The winner must be a Finnish national. Since 1993, elect a three-member jury every year from three to six works in Finnish or Swedish. From this pre-selection, a member of the jury awards then the price. The nominated titles are announced. Admission to the selection always ensures long runs.

Since 1997 the Finlandia Junior Prize ( Finnish Finlandia Junior palkinto, Swedish Finlandia Junior priset ) awarded for a children's or YA. Since 1989 there is also the Finlandia Knowledge Award (Finnish Tieto - Finlandia palkinto, Swedish Fack Finlandia priset ) for a property or textbook that contributes to the popularization of a theme.
