In the three years after the last elections in 1924 there were four different governments. Last ruled the social democrat Väinö Tanner as Prime Minister. However, its SDP had it not an official coalition and formed with their 60 seats a minority government.

The second largest party in Parliament, the Land League, could account for the largest gains: eight more seats than in the previous legislature had jumped out of the election. The Social Democrats lost, however slightly. The conservative National Coalition Party and the liberal Progressive Party had to cope with the biggest losses.
