Action
The writer Michael Waechter travels to a family celebration in his hometown in the Midwest of the United States. There he learns that his mother Lisa died in an accident. Michael argue again with his father Charles, who dominated the family.
In flashbacks years are shown past events, to which Michael recalls. During a summer Jane Lawrence visited her older sister Lisa, who toyed with the idea of leaving her husband.
In the end, Michael learns that his ex - wife is pregnant. He destroyed the previously written manuscript of the book about his childhood.

The production of the film was financed by Senator Entertainment. The film was shot in Austin (Texas), in Bastrop (Texas ) and Smithville (Texas ) in the spring of 2007.
The world premiere took place at the Berlinale 2008 on February 12, 2008. Unlike the original title the fireflies ( fireflies english ) do not occur in the German title. The film opened in German cinemas on August 7, 2008.
