Flag of Guyana

Appearance and meaning

The distinctive design is by Whitney Smith, director of the Flag Research Center in the United States.

  • The in Guyana " golden arrowhead " called yellow form represents the expected golden future and the mineral resources of Guyana.
  • Green represents the lush forests and agriculture, the main industry in Guyana.
  • Black represents the persistence and perseverance of the people on the way forward.
  • Red symbolizes the zeal, the energy and the willingness to make sacrifices in building the nation
  • The white border represents the rivers and lakes in the country
